The Ortuella City Council is investing 26,500 euros to install a new traffic light at the pedestrian crossing connecting Avenida del Minero and the Gorbeia neighborhood, in the vicinity of the Marcelino Ugalde Institute.

The main goal of this initiative is to strengthen the safety of both pedestrians and drivers, especially for students attending the Marcelino Ugalde Institute and other nearby educational centers. This area experiences high pedestrian traffic, which has prompted this measure by the Ortuella City Council.

"With this action, we aim to improve safety in an area with high pedestrian traffic, especially among children. We continue to work to make school environments safer and more accessible."

Saulo Nebreda · Mayor of Ortuella
The project includes the installation of two traffic light poles and one traffic light column to regulate both vehicle circulation and pedestrian crossings. Additionally, the system will feature push-buttons for pedestrians and acoustic alerts for visually impaired individuals, thereby enhancing the accessibility of the area. The new traffic light will be coordinated with the existing one on Avenida del Minero, optimizing traffic regulation in the zone.
The execution period for the works will be approximately 15 days once awarded, with a one-month timeframe from the award date. Through this intervention, the Ortuella City Council reaffirms its commitment to road safety, accessibility, and the protection of school environments.
