The exhibition "Insects. All They Tell" has been inaugurated in Bilbao, with the goal of bringing the extraordinary diversity of insects closer to the public. This group of animals accounts for between 60% and 70% of all known species. The event is organized by the UPV/EHU Scientific Culture Chair and the Museum of Sciences of the University of Navarra.
Beyond exploring insect biology, behavior, and ecology, the exhibition emphasizes their crucial role in the food chain and ecosystem balance. Visitors can discover the forms and colors of bees, beetles, butterflies, flies, ants, and dragonflies, as well as the complex adaptations they have developed for life in water, air, forests, or cultivated lands.
The exhibition is open at the Axular exhibition hall of Bizkaia Aretoa-UPV/EHU from September 19th to October 4th. Admission is free. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00, Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00. On October 4th, entomologist Sergi Romeu will offer a workshop to conclude the exhibition.
The exhibition is designed for all audiences, with particular consideration for schools and families. It combines information panels, projections, terrariums, and interactive elements. It also offers accessibility resources such as easy-to-read texts, images with adapted color and contrast criteria, subtitled audiovisuals, braille booklets, and tactile 3D elements, ensuring inclusivity.
This activity is part of the Bilbao Science Plaza (BZP) 2026 festival, which will fill Bilbao with science from September 16th to October 4th through lectures, exhibitions, and workshops.
