The Foral Library of Bizkaia has launched the call for entries for the BizkaIdatz XVIII Literary Awards, aiming to promote the creativity of writers in the territory. The deadline for submitting works is September 11, 2026.

The main objective of this competition is to encourage, strengthen, and promote literary talent and creativity in Bizkaia, as well as its subsequent dissemination. Individuals aged over sixteen may participate, provided their submitted works are original and have not been previously published, either partially or in full.
To be eligible, participants must meet at least one of the following conditions: have been born in the Historical Territory of Bizkaia, be registered there at the time of the publication of the rules, or have been registered in Bizkaia for at least one year prior to the publication of the rules.
Those who won first prize in either of the two previous editions may only participate in the current call in the category in which they did not receive an award, either in Basque or Spanish. Participants must follow one of these two stories: Itsasoaren doinua, written by Haizea López, or Las ideas prietas, by Gazta Ruiz.
The competition rules and participation form, as well as the bank direct debit form, can be downloaded online or collected in paper format from the ground floor of the Foral Library.
