This initiative proposes walking through various significant enclaves of the territory with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of its heritage. On this occasion, the cycle focuses on several hermitages in Bizkaia, combining landscape and historical elements in itineraries of varying difficulty.
The outings will take place over four consecutive Saturdays in May: May 9, 16, 23, and 30. All of them will start at 08:00 AM from the Nafarroa car park. The first route will head to San Pedro de Atxarre, a 12.4-kilometer journey starting from Laga beach, offering views of landmarks such as Cape Ogoño or the Akorda neighborhood.
The next appointment, scheduled for May 16, will move the activity to the Urdaibai area, where the itinerary will ascend to the hermitage of San Miguel de Ereño, located above dense holm oak forests and associated with various local legends. This second route will be 9 kilometers long and will combine natural landscape with symbolic elements of the surroundings.
A week later, on May 23, the route will shift to eastern Bizkaia, with a 13.7-kilometer journey between Markina and Aulesti, passing through Santa Eufemia and Mount Urregarai, on a medium-difficulty trail.
The cycle will conclude on May 30 with an excursion to Santa Cruz and Aitzorrotz, covering 11.7 kilometers, starting from the sanctuary of Dorleta and offering views of mountains such as Anboto, Udalaitz, or Gorbeia, in addition to an environment with remains of a medieval castle and Roman presence.
The organizers indicate that the routes may be adjusted depending on conditions to enhance the experience. Registration must be completed at the Zelaieta Center before the Thursday prior to each outing. The price is 8.75 euros per route, and it will be necessary to have a Citizen Card.
