The Gipuzkoa Civil Guard intercepted a van transporting ten illegal fighting cocks at the Irun toll on Sunday, April 14, which was traveling from Cantabria with Bayonne as its destination.

The vehicle, carrying five Spanish nationals, was stopped at the Irun toll as it was about to cross the border. Officers found the ten roosters in the back, without rings or the necessary documentation.
According to the Civil Guard, the occupants of the van had previous records for illegal gambling and animal abuse. The interception occurred on Sunday, April 14.
