The iconic Punk's Peak Sprint Race will be held this Wednesday on the Jaizkibel road in Hondarribia, as part of the Wheels & Waves festival. This event brings together thousands of fans of custom motorcycles, surfing, skateboarding, and urban culture along the Basque coast.
Nearly a hundred riders and special motorcycles will compete in acceleration duels over a stretch of approximately 400 meters. The competition, which kicks off at 1:00 PM, has established itself as one of the most recognized events in the Wheels & Waves program, attracting participants from virtually every continent each year.
Jaizkibel, with its curves and surroundings, transforms into a unique stage for showcasing some of the most distinctive motorcycles on the international scene. Over the years, the event has hosted prominent figures in motorcycling such as Troy Corser, Christian Sarron, Jean-Michel Bayle, and Randy Mamola, alongside custom builds from prestigious manufacturers. The blend of competition, design, and biker culture has made it a benchmark in the custom world.
The Punk's Peak is part of a broader program extending until Sunday. Wheels & Waves combines surf exhibitions, skate and BMX competitions, motorcycle races, road tours, concerts, exhibitions, and fan gatherings. Among the highlights are the Race of the Lords and El Rollo TT, taking place on Friday in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, and the Vintage Rally on Saturday.
Due to the event, the GI-3440 road will be closed to traffic between kilometer points 7.300 and 13.000 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Spectator access will be permitted between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM. Motorcycles will be the only vehicles allowed from Hondarribia, while both motorcycles and cars can pass from the Lezo and Pasajes sides.
