The Local Police of Irun is immersed in a transformation process, guided by the Strategic Security and Coexistence Plan 2027-2030, recently approved by the City Council. This document aims to establish a closer proximity policing model, focused on prevention and building citizen trust.
The plan outlines five main axes, encompassing 24 specific actions. The core idea is to bring the municipal police closer to the community, resolve incidents effectively, and foster trust in citizen security, thereby improving coexistence and reducing insecurity and its perception within the municipality.
The defined mission is to make Irun a city where people can pursue their life projects with peace of mind, a safe and friendly city that revitalizes citizen coexistence and guarantees the protection of its inhabitants. The vision, meanwhile, focuses on promoting social understanding and compliance with current regulations as fundamental pillars for a prosperous and cohesive living space.
The plan's operations are aligned with four guiding principles: consensus among citizens, associative and economic fabric, and institutions; coherence with other local strategies; the definition of a dynamic and flexible framework adaptable to changing realities; and a results-oriented approach that promotes interventions to enhance local security and coexistence.
