According to the collective, the motion to be brought before the Plenary will include commitments for the council to "convey our requests to the different companies of the Hondarribia Alarde." In the statement announcing the decision to present this proposal, Guztion Alardea invited all residents of Hondarribia to attend the municipal Plenary Session and show their support for the women who wish to participate in the Hondarribia Alarde.
“"We are not asking for anything new. We are not asking for anything against anyone; we simply want to parade as soldiers in the Alarde. And today, simply because we are women, that right is denied to us. We do not want to change the Alarde; we want to be part of it."
This action is part of the 'Jaiak elkarrekin' initiative, which began in July to collect signatures from women who wanted to participate in the different companies of the Hondarribia Alarde. They have also carried out various initiatives, such as a popular mural painted with citizens, the creation of t-shirts, and the audiovisual project 'Elkarrekin', in which different women have been seen in their company costumes. The collective stated that this has been a very special process, as they are women from Hondarribia who have experienced September 8th since childhood, and the Alarde is part of their lives.
