The Irun City Council has announced that the Belartza parking construction is nearing its end, creating a new space for the Artia neighborhood.

The Irun City Council has reported that the Belartza parking construction is nearing completion. The works, which began two years ago, are now in their final phase. Mayor Cristina Laborda, accompanied by delegates Gorka Álvarez and Sergio Javier, visited the site yesterday, October 27th.
Laborda stated, "We are now close to finishing the Belartza works, an initiative that will transform the daily life of the Artia neighborhood. We are creating much more than an underground parking lot, which was also an important need for the area. We are building a new meeting and coexistence space, with areas for seniors, youth, and families. A space designed to improve residents' quality of life, strengthen relationships, and foster community. Belartza is set to become the new heart of Artia, a place to meet, live, and build community."
Gorka Álvarez highlighted, "The progress of the Belartza parking works is proceeding according to schedule. Now, the project enters its final phase and this new space is about to be completed, which will improve parking availability and provide a new leisure and enjoyment area, responding to a need in the area and for the citizens."
Finally, Sergio Javier emphasized the importance of this parking facility for alleviating the neighborhood's parking difficulties, "responding to that citizen request, as well as offering a space for residents to enjoy."
The new parking facility will feature three levels: two underground and one partially above ground, integrated into the hillside. In total, it will provide 169 parking spaces, along with areas for motorcycles and bicycles. Access will be from Pintor Berrueta street and exit via Zurbarán street.
Furthermore, the surface urbanization will create a quality public recreational space, extending the existing park. It will include a calisthenics circuit, a multi-sport court, a children's playground, and a health circuit.
The works were awarded to the company U.T.E. Parking Belartza with a budget of nearly 6 million euros.
