The Basque Government Council, at the proposal of the Department of Welfare, Youth, and Demographic Challenge, has approved a direct grant of €62,865 to the Spanish Red Cross. This funding aims to strengthen social care and support for individuals affected by the housing situation in the Agarre neighborhood, in Lemoa (Bizkaia).
The aid will cover the social intervention in the area of four buildings comprising 32 homes, providing specialized technical support to Basic Social Services and individualized support to those receiving care. The initiative also includes a provisional accommodation resource for ten people and the design of personalized social inclusion pathways tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
The objective is to offer comprehensive care that combines temporary housing needs with social support, fostering personal autonomy, inclusion, and the development of life projects. This intervention is carried out in coordination with the Lemoa City Council, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Red Cross, and various entities from the Social Third Sector.
The initiative is part of the objectives of the II Basque Strategy against Severe Residential Exclusion 2024-2028, which advocates for prevention, personalized attention, and the strengthening of community support resources. Through this contribution, the Department of Welfare, Youth, and Demographic Challenge helps reinforce the social support network and coordination between institutions and social entities, with people's well-being as the focus of the intervention.
