The cloister of the Faculty of Arts will be the venue for this event, where visitors can find seasonal vegetables, artisanal bread, and engage in direct conversations with producers. The fair will run from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
This initiative, organized by EHU in collaboration with UNIazoka, aims to promote organic and local agriculture beyond mere purchasing. It encourages a deeper reflection on consumption habits and the desired food system.
The project has been active since 2018 as part of the Campus BiziLab program, and this year's edition is supported by Justicia Alimentaria and Hegoa. Throughout the morning, attendees can enjoy tastings of organic and seasonal products, as well as participate in open talks discussing alternatives for more just and responsible consumption.
A key highlight of the fair is the direct interaction with producers. Baserritarras (traditional Basque farmers) will be present at their stalls, ready to engage with visitors, providing a unique opportunity to learn more about the origin of the food we eat.
The program of talks includes:
- Micro-talk on fair trade: from 10:30 AM to 10:45 AM.
- Micro-talk by the Environmental Studies Center: from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM.
- Micro-talk by SlowFood: from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM.
- Talk by Ekolurra and EHKOlektiboa: 'Agroecology: Meeting point of values based on the ecological seal': from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
The fair sees active participation from a large part of the university community, including faculty, students, and staff from all campus faculties. They are joined by various third-sector organizations such as Slow Food Araba, Zentzuz, Bionekazaritza, EHNEK, Ekolurra, Hazien Sarea, EHKOlektiboa, Basaldea, Ensintropia, Ugala, and Eguzki Huerta, among others.
The event coincides with International Earth Day, reinforcing the message that supporting local and organic products is also a way to care for the environment. Additionally, attendees will receive a shopping bag and can participate in a raffle for a basket of products.
