Bilbao will host the ADAPT AKTION Euskadi 2050 forum on November 24th and 25th, an event designed to analyze seven years of experiences and lessons learned in climate change adaptation solutions. This gathering marks the conclusion of the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, led by the Basque Government through the public company Ihobe.
With an investment of nearly 20 million euros and the participation of 23 partner entities, the initiative has driven 40 actions for adaptation in coastal areas, river basins, and urban zones across Euskadi. These actions have focused on flood prevention, environmental restoration, green infrastructure, urban resilience, energy, and health. The project has also developed tools and knowledge to integrate climate change adaptation into public planning and management.
The forum will bring together institutional representatives, technical staff, and social agents involved in climate action to analyze achievements and discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by climate change for Euskadi. The first day will feature institutional presentations, an international keynote, exchange spaces with collaborating projects, and sessions focused on the results and learnings from the Urban Klima 2050 project.
The second day will be dedicated to technical visits of pilot projects developed in Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa. Attendees will gain firsthand knowledge of initiatives implemented to enhance resilience against climate change impacts, covering adaptation to coastal and riverine floods, environmental restoration, green infrastructure, and improved ecological connectivity.
The event aims to share applied solutions, exchange experiences, and foster new collaborative dynamics among organizations and professionals working in climate change adaptation.
