Two cases of scabies have been identified at the Salburua haurreskola in Vitoria-Gasteiz, affecting two adult educators. However, the Basque Government's Public Health Department has called for calm, emphasizing that the illness is mild and not currently considered an outbreak.

Families of the Salburua haurreskola, located on Roma Avenue, received a notice on Monday afternoon detailing compatible symptoms, in case their children might develop them, as reported by Radio Vitoria. Scabies is caused by tiny mites that lead to skin rashes, which can cause severe itching.
According to sources from the Basque Government's Public Health, on April 10, two cases of scabies in adults from a classroom at this public nursery school in Salburua were reported to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (UVE) of Álava. On Monday, as soon as the information was available, families were notified.
Currently, no cases of scabies have been detected among the minors in the affected classroom. The UVE and Osalan have gathered information on potential contacts and provided recommendations, explaining how to act if symptoms appear (itching, especially intense at night, and skin lesions predominantly in the interdigital folds and on the anterior surface of the wrists and elbows).
Meanwhile, the two affected educators are receiving treatment (which focuses on eliminating mites and their eggs through creams or oral medications) and continue to be present in the classroom.
