King Emeritus Juan Carlos I returned to Vitoria on Sunday, landing at Foronda airport, to attend a consultation with Doctor Eduardo Anitua, despite residing in Abu Dhabi.

Juan Carlos de Borbón has made Vitoria-Gasteiz one of his regular destinations in Spain. The King Emeritus, who resides in Abu Dhabi to avoid establishing residence in Spain and evade Treasury control, landed again at Foronda on Sunday.
Once in Vitoria, Juan Carlos I went directly to the house for patients that Doctor Eduardo Anitua has in Armentia. This visit has already become a routine, although this time it was shorter.
Juan Carlos takes advantage of his visits to Vitoria-Gasteiz to have medical consultations. His doctors, Eduardo Anitua and Mikel Sánchez, are also his friends, so the visit to Vitoria is usually accompanied by conversations, meetings, and gatherings beyond the consultation.
The plane that brought Juan Carlos arrived from Paris, where he received an award from the French Assembly for the book about his memoirs. The aircraft left Vitoria two hours later bound for Vigo. It is likely that Juan Carlos was on it, as Vigo is his next confirmed destination. However, it is not clear if he spent the night in Vitoria or in Vigo.
