The Department of Science, Universities and Innovation of the Basque Government held the second annual meeting of Jakindari, the alliance for scientific culture that now brings together nearly a hundred entities committed to bringing scientific knowledge closer to Basque society. The meeting took place at the Álava Technology Park.
During the event, the alliance's first year of activity was analyzed, and new collaboration opportunities among its members were explored. Jakindari was launched a year ago with the aim of strengthening collaboration between organizations dedicated to scientific dissemination, expanding the reach of their initiatives, and generating greater social impact.
The Minister of Science, Universities and Innovation, Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias, highlighted that "this is the first time the Basque Government is developing its own scientific dissemination activities and dedicating a much higher volume of resources to them than in previous years." He emphasized the importance of scientific dissemination for enhancing the prestige and legitimacy of knowledge in society.
The Jakindari alliance brings together organizations from diverse fields, including research and innovation centers, universities, public institutions, foundations, associations, museums, cultural centers, and libraries. Among its members are DIPC, AZTI, CICenergiGUNE, Tecnalia, EHU, University of Deusto, Mondragon University, Ikerbasque, Innobasque, Aquarium, Laboratorium, and Tabakalera, among others.
In its first year, Jakindari has promoted initiatives such as Jakinaldia, the first collective programming experience around an eclipse, and the ZientziaKlik platform, which has published over 500 events organized by more than 50 entities in around 35 municipalities.
The department has also resolved the first call for grants, "Ezagutza Zabaltzen," aimed at financing projects for the social dissemination of scientific knowledge promoted by entities affiliated with Jakindari. A total of 14 projects will be funded.
The meeting combined the exchange of experiences with training and collaborative work. A project exhibition was presented, training sessions were held, and the day concluded with a collaborative working session to identify shared interests and explore new avenues for cooperation and joint projects.
