The Basque Government's Health Department is monitoring children at Salburua Haurreskola after two cases of scabies were detected in adults, although no minors have been infected so far.

On April 10, the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (UVE) of Álava was notified of two cases of scabies in adults within a classroom at Salburua Haurreskola. This has prompted the Basque Government's Health Department to closely monitor the children to prevent potential contagion.
As of today, no cases of scabies have been detected among the minors in the affected classroom. Both the UVE and Osalan have gathered information on potential contacts and provided recommendations, explaining how to act if symptoms appear.

These symptoms can include itching, especially intense at night, and skin lesions predominantly found in the interdigital folds and on the anterior surfaces of the wrists and elbows.

Currently, there is no evidence of further infected individuals beyond these two Haurreskola employees. Health authorities continue to track the situation to prevent further spread and reinforce preventive measures.
