EH Bildu has submitted a motion to the General Assemblies of Álava, proposing the creation of an IT application to address issues in paper and cardboard collection, enabling citizens and entities to report information to the Foral Council.
Through a motion presented in the General Assemblies of Álava, the sovereignist coalition EH Bildu has proposed the creation of an IT application. This digital tool would allow both local entities and citizens to directly communicate information regarding problems arising in the collection service to the Foral Council. EH Bildu has requested that this application be developed within a three-month period.
According to spokesperson Eva Lopez de Arroyabe, the management of the collection service has been under the Council's responsibility since 2004, and she has denounced that, for at least the past two years, the service has been poorly executed, causing significant damage to all municipalities in Álava. Despite the service's management being awarded to a new company last summer, the problems have not been resolved.
Members of EH Bildu recalled that in January of last year, around twenty town councils and cuadrillas urged the Council to take responsibility and implement measures to ensure proper service delivery. Furthermore, they noted that Deputy Saray Zarate, the political head of the service, has acknowledged that the new company is not correctly fulfilling all contractual clauses.
The sovereignist coalition requested all complaints and claims related to this issue from the Council, but only “a few” were provided. EH Bildu has asserted that there are more claims than those received, and from the responses, they conclude that the department led by Ms. Zarate is unable to systematize and monitor the current situation in the territory. This is deemed concerning, as an effective and definitive solution cannot be provided without a clear understanding of the problem's magnitude.
