The public telecare service BetiON now serves over 90,023 users in Euskadi, marking a new record. Of these, 11,563 are in Álava, 46,771 in Bizkaia, and 31,689 in Gipuzkoa. Women constitute 74% of those assisted, and over half, 46,542 users, are between 80 and 89 years old.
The Provincial Council of Álava and the Basque Government have launched the campaign "Nire etxean eta lasai / In my home and with peace of mind". This initiative will run for approximately two months, visiting 24 municipalities in Álava to bring the BetiON service closer to rural residents. The campaign will feature a BetiON agent and eight open informational workshops.
Nerea Melgosa, the Basque Government's Minister of Welfare, Youth, and Demographic Challenge, emphasized that reaching this figure means "90,023 people know that, if they need it, someone is on the other side". She also highlighted the service's growth, with an increase of nearly 12% since April 2025, when it had 80,450 users.
The campaign aims to ensure that people living in Álava's villages can continue to do so in their homes and environment for as long as possible, maintaining their autonomy, and that they are aware of all available resources. "Living in a village should not mean facing greater difficulties in accessing services," stated Laura Pérez Borinaga, the Provincial Deputy for Territorial Balance and Planning of the Provincial Council of Álava.
The campaign will also involve collaboration with pharmacies and dispensaries, which will serve as information points. Additionally, it will partner with municipalities, social and health services, and other local stakeholders.
BetiON provides 24-hour assistance, 365 days a year, for the elderly, those with dependency needs, or requiring support, enabling them to live safely and autonomously in their homes. The service extends beyond emergency response, offering personalized follow-up and preventive measures.
