The Amurrio Municipal Government and the Basque Government's Security Department have issued separate press releases to strongly condemn graffiti found in the town's streets against the Ertzaintza.

As detailed by the Security Department, the markings appeared on the football field of the Refor sports complex and specifically target a particular police officer. The public institution emphasized that this is not the first time this agent has been singled out, adding that such incidents "recall past times in Euskadi".
The local municipal government also stated that these types of actions have been repeated "on more than one occasion" in the municipality of Amurrio. In response, members of the government, formed by the PNV and PSE-EE, have affirmed that Amurrio is "a space for coexistence based on mutual respect, diversity, and democratic values".

These vandalistic actions, in addition to damaging common heritage, seek to sow confrontation and undermine the basic principles of institutional and social respect that we defend as a community.

Finally, the municipal government denounced that such actions, "in addition to damaging common heritage," aim to "sow confrontation and undermine the basic principles of institutional and social respect that we defend as a community," and assured that they will not normalize them.
