This recognition, the highest honor granted by the Alavese institution, was approved by the Foral Government Council to highlight Mr. Lavín's business trajectory and his commitment to promoting tourism in the region. The award ceremony will take place in Rioja Alavesa, on a date to be agreed upon by the foral institution and the family.
Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1963 and with close family ties to Laguardia, Lavín began his entrepreneurial journey in 1986 with the opening of the Altair restaurant. From there, he expanded his activities with various projects linked to catering, events, and the dissemination of wine culture.
One of the most prominent names associated with his career is Villa Lucía, located in Laguardia, conceived as a space dedicated to enogastronomy and wine-related tourist experiences. His work was also connected to other business initiatives in the sector and the implementation of proposals aimed at strengthening Rioja Alavesa's appeal as a destination.
The Provincial Council also emphasizes his participation in the Rioja Alavesa Wine Route, where he served as president, and his crucial role in consolidating the region as a tourism benchmark linked to wine, gastronomy, and local products. This medal adds to the one already agreed upon this year for Mikel Sánchez, although Mr. Lavín's award ceremony will be held separately in Rioja Alavesa.
