The play 52 hertz by the company Ados Teatroa will be performed this Thursday, April 16, at 7:30 PM at the Jesús Ibáñez de Matauco Theater in Vitoria-Gasteiz, addressing the theme of unwanted loneliness.

Part of the municipal theater network, tickets are still available for this Basque-language theatrical proposal. The work delves into the issue of loneliness based on real testimonies, collected in the form of micro-documentaries, aiming to raise public awareness about this contemporary problem.
The production draws inspiration from the well-known “52-hertz whale,” a phenomenon recorded for decades in the Pacific Ocean. This cetacean emits its song at a different frequency from other whales, preventing it from communicating with its own species. This metaphor serves as the guiding thread for a play that offers a choral perspective on social isolation, through six interconnected stories reflecting various experiences of loneliness.

"The play explores unwanted loneliness based on real stories, with which they seek to sensitize the public."

Actor Joseba Apaolaza emphasized that this issue does not only affect older people but also young individuals. Meanwhile, Martxelo Rubio remarked that it is a reality “more integrated into society than we believe,” which the play addresses in an accessible and relatable manner.
Written by Garbi Losada and José Antonio Vitoria, and directed by Losada herself, 52 hertz features a cast including Joseba Apaolaza, Martxelo Rubio, Ainhoa Aierbe, Dorleta Urretabizkaia, Amaia Irazabal, and Kimetz Etxabe. The production, which premiered last October, combines theater and audiovisual elements with original music by Javier Asín to offer a reflection on one of the most widespread contemporary social problems.
