The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has presented the campaign ‘Frente a la violencia machista, somos red’ (Against Machista Violence, We Are a Network) for November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A program of activities has been organized, running until December 2nd, and will include four film screenings, a theater play, a meeting, and a training session.
This was announced by the Councilor for Equality, Ana López de Uralde, who recalled that "44 women have been murdered due to gender-based violence so far in 2026 in Spain. 1,385 fatal victims since official records began". "Machista violence is not a private matter, nor something that women should face alone: it is a social problem that challenges us as a community and that we can only eradicate if we act together. Therefore, for this November 25th, we have chosen the slogan ‘Frente a la violencia machista, somos red’. A network that supports, accompanies, and does not look away from violence, inequalities, or discourses that try to deny it," she added.
The schedule will begin on Friday, November 6th, with a documentary on violence in sports, at 6:00 PM in the Casa de las Mujeres. On Thursday, November 12th, the play ‘Bi baso Bat ur’ (‘Two glasses, one of water’) will be performed at 6:30 PM at the Jesús Ibáñez de Matauco Theater. On November 13th, there will be a meeting with ‘Psicowoman’ at 10:30 AM at the Aldabe Civic Center, to promote healthy and egalitarian affective relationships among youth.

Additionally, on November 17th and December 1st, training against digital violence will be offered at 5:30 PM in the Casa de las Mujeres, in collaboration with ASAFES. "We invite citizens to participate in the activities organized by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council for November 25th. This 2026, we want no woman to have to face machista violence alone. To achieve this, we propose weaving a network in which all people can be a part."
