The Aldabe civic center in Vitoria-Gasteiz hosted yesterday the Municipal Forum of the School Agenda 2030. Here, students from the city presented the work developed during the academic year as part of the program promoted by the Center for Environmental Studies (CEA).
The event was attended by Borja Rodríguez, councilor for City Model, Urban Planning, Housing, and Environment of Vitoria-Gasteiz, who thanked the involvement of students from the 23 participating educational centers.
“"We are national and international benchmarks in sustainability and the fight against climate change. And you, the students, contribute to this through your participation in the School Agenda 2030 program."
The theme addressed by the educational community in this edition focused on Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12): ‘Responsible consumption and production, with a special emphasis on the topic of the circular economy’.
Participating students have committed to undertaking five shared actions to help make Vitoria-Gasteiz more sustainable. These include developing campaigns against food waste, organizing second-hand markets, promoting the Reutilizagune, providing information on waste collection, and conducting surveys on last-mile delivery.
Furthermore, the councilor reported on the 56 sustainability improvement proposals made by students in the previous academic year, 2024-2025, some of which are already being implemented: ‘I want to highlight the effort we are making to support local and neighborhood commerce, promote the reuse and repair of appliances, and implement a deposit and return system for containers’.
