A total of 70 students from three schools in Durango (Jesuitak, Nevers, and San Antonio Ikastetxea) participated in the tenth edition of the story and short story contest and the seventh Basque comic competition, organized by the Vicente Zavala cultural association. The awards ceremony took place at the municipal library Bizenta Mogel.
The distinguished students received digital cameras for the top two prizes and wireless headphones for the next three. Additionally, two special mentions were given, which will be noted in the contest's trajectory.
“"You must continue reading and writing by hand with good handwriting and read many novels like 'Don Quixote', 'The Little Prince', or Lorca's poetry. Study, don't settle for a five. Aim for a ten, as you are training to be great people tomorrow and work hard."
In the comic category, Kevin Anderson Coca won first prize for his work 'Ikusi baino, begiratu behar da'. He was joined on the podium by Aroa González ('Helenaren ametsa') and Haizea Outeiral ('Animaliak azoketan'), second and third respectively, all from the Nevers school.
In the Spanish story contest, the first prize went to Maialen Neira from Jesuitak Ikastetxea for her work 'La carta de Amy'. Other awardees included Amaia Izquierdo (Nevers), Maider Unanue (San Antonio), Naia Romero (Jesuitak), Aiala Rodríguez (Nevers), and Iraia Vicario (San Antonio). Special mentions were awarded to Elaia Valera and Marta Bonito. As a participation prize, Bluetooth headphones were given to the schools to be raffled among the students.
