The second half of May, specifically from the 15th to the 24th, will be dedicated to the examinations for the 2022-24 Public Employment Offer (OPE) organized by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council. A total of 8,766 individuals have been definitively admitted to compete for 207 available positions.
These positions are distributed across 54 calls, each with its specific professional profiles. However, past experience indicates that not all registered candidates typically attend the tests.
The initial number of applications, which exceeded 16,000, has decreased for various reasons. Firstly, some individuals applied for more than one category. Secondly, several hundred candidates failed to meet essential requirements, such as the accreditation of IT Txartelak, which are certifications proving the applicants' computer proficiency.
According to the terms of the call, these certifications had to be accredited within six months of the announcement's publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE), a deadline that concluded in November. Many first-time OPE participants did not meet this deadline, either due to unfamiliarity with the process or difficulties in securing appointments at the KZ Gunea centers where the tests are conducted. A similar situation occurred in the 2021 OPE, where nearly 5,000 candidates were excluded for the same reason.
The examinations will be concentrated at the Europa Palace, despite initial considerations to spread them between May and July. To streamline the process, the calls have been structured into three modalities, with some second exercises postponed until after September 15. The municipal administration aims to expedite these processes due to the urgent need for generational replacement within its workforce, given the numerous retirements anticipated in the short term, particularly in administrative, maintenance, and social services areas.
Most of the positions in this OPE are for cleaning and auxiliary nursing care. Additionally, the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council is conducting other selection processes for entities such as Tuvisa, the CEA (Environmental Studies Center), and the Luis Aramburu Municipal Music School, with hundreds of registered candidates in each case.
