The Vitoria-Gasteiz Municipal Band will provide the music for the Celedón de Oro 2025 gala on October 19th at the Europa Conference Centre, with awards presented to the Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos and Txaro Iturralde.

The Municipal Band of Vitoria-Gasteiz will perform at the Celedón de Oro 2025 gala next Monday, October 19th. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM at the Europa Conference Centre.
During the ceremony, awards will be presented to the Municipal Comparsa of Giants and Big-Heads of Vitoria-Gasteiz and to the former seamstress of the City Council's Culture Department, Txaro Iturralde, who dressed the characters for many years.
Gaizka Uraga, director of the Culture and Education Department, stated that this concert is "one of the most special of the year" for the Band and the City Council, and an opportunity to collaborate with an association that "defends, promotes, and cares for Vitoria-Gasteiz".
Iker Olazabal, the concert's conductor, added that the awards ceremony will become an "authentic celebration of local culture," bringing "rhythm, color, and tradition" to the audience.
The Municipal Band has prepared a program of seven new and engaging pieces, maintaining the "Gasteiztar essence." The repertoire includes: El Guardian invisible by Fernando Velázquez, Alkate Soinua by José Mª Sistiaga, Vals de Bodas by Juanma Sáez, Elgacena by Juan Carlos Doñabeitia, Fantasía Caserío Final by Jesús Guridi, Plegaria a la Virgen Blanca by Luis Aramburu, and Una tarde en Laguardia by Eduardo Moreno.
Invitations are available starting today, October 14th, at 4:00 PM at the box office of the municipal theater network, located at the Tourist Office in Plaza Nueva. A maximum of four invitations per person are allowed.
This year's honorees are the Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos de Vitoria-Gasteiz and Txaro Iturralde Saez de Vicuña, who served as the seamstress for the City Council's Culture Department for 40 years. The comparsa, founded in 1917, has been instrumental in preserving the city's traditions and identity, while Iturralde was responsible for the costumes of emblematic characters from 1982 to 2023.
