The Gauekoak and Xtraklub programs, aimed at young people aged between 12 and 30 years old, will provide a total of 1,100 places for the 48 activities scheduled this autumn-winter season. The program will run from September to December and includes novelties such as a queer art festival and activities like underwater hockey and curling.
Details of the new programming were announced by the Councilor for Youth, Ana López de Uralde, accompanied by Maite Huarte, head of the Xtraklub program, and Klara Schmidt, coordinator of the Gauekoak program.
López de Uralde stated that “Gauekoak and Xtraklub offer a broad and diverse leisure and free time program, designed to meet the interests of young people and evolve with their new trends and needs. These programs provide experiences to enjoy, discover new hobbies, and socialize, while promoting educational, healthy, and quality leisure.” She also highlighted that “the objective is to support young people and provide them with spaces and proposals where they can participate and create their own leisure, thus contributing to improving their well-being and quality of life”.
The Gauekoak program, aimed at young people aged 16 to 30, will offer 21 free activities for the new season, with 600 places. The program includes proposals in various disciplines such as creation, music, adventure, and leisure. Among the new additions, the Festival Gu Gasteiz stands out, a proposal dedicated to queer art, as well as the incorporation of activities like curling and underwater hockey.
Meanwhile, the Xtraklub program will feature 27 activities and 500 places between September and December. Aimed at young people aged 12 to 18, the program seeks to offer healthy, quality leisure alternatives adapted to their interests.
The Xtraklub program includes two-hour Xpress workshops, multi-session Xtra workshops, and urban excursions. Day trips, cultural travel, and adventure experiences have also been organized, including a weekend at an amusement park in Madrid and activities such as bodyboarding and paddle surfing.
Interested individuals can register for Gauekoak's free activities starting Friday, September 11th, at 08:30. For Xtraklub, registration for September and October activities will open on Saturday, September 12th, at 8:30 AM. Registration for November and December activities will open on Saturday, October 17th, at the same time.
Registrations can be made through the municipal website, by calling 010 or 945 16 11 00, or in person at the Municipal Youth Information Office (OMIJ), civic centers, and municipal sports facilities. Each person can register for a maximum of four activities during the autumn-winter season.
To complement the youth leisure offerings, the G4zt3Hub youth space, located in the San Martín neighborhood, will resume its activities on Friday, September 11th. Additionally, Labe Gazte Laborategia, at San Vicente de Paúl 21, will open its doors this afternoon.
