With this new campaign, we will intervene in streets that show significant wear, renew the pavement, and improve safety and circulation conditions. The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has awarded the 2027 asphalt campaign, which will renew the pavement on Alibarra, Olaguíbel, Madre Vedruna, Portal de Gamarra, and Jacinto Benavente streets.
The Local Government Board of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has awarded the road surface improvement works corresponding to the 2027 asphalt campaign, which will allow for the renewal of the pavement on various streets in the city. The contract has been awarded to the UTE Firmes Alaveses-Yárritu consortium for an amount of 798,121 euros and an execution period of eight weeks, with work scheduled to begin on April 1st.
The campaign initially includes the renewal of more than 14,000 square meters of road surface, to which an additional 2,750 square meters offered by the awarded company at no cost to the City Council will be added. Thus, the total intervention area will exceed 16,700 square meters, expanding the scope of the works without increasing the planned investment.
The interventions will take place on Alibarra, Olaguíbel, and Madre Vedruna streets, as well as on the roundabout and street of Portal de Gamarra and in the car park of Jacinto Benavente. The project also includes complementary actions on Portal de Betoño and Portal de Zurbano, linked to the improvements offered by the contractor.
The work will consist of removing deteriorated asphalt layers and replacing them with new pavement, reinforcing areas with greater damage or heavier traffic. It will also correct subsidences and unevenness, adjust manhole covers, and replace affected horizontal signage. The objective is to improve circulation conditions and extend the lifespan of the roadways.
To reduce traffic disruptions, works on Alibarra, Olaguíbel, and Portal de Gamarra will be carried out during night hours, while on Madre Vedruna, work will be organized by lanes.
This award continues the municipal road surface renewal campaigns. Two weeks ago, the Local Government Board awarded the campaign for 2026, for nearly 928,000 euros, which will allow for work on more than 21,600 square meters of pavement. Between both campaigns, the City Council will allocate more than 1.7 million euros to improve over 38,300 square meters of the city's roads.
