The city of Vitoria-Gasteiz is entering the central hours of the San Prudencio festivities with two days packed with events. This Monday, April 27, the program will feature the retreta, the tamborrada (drum parade), and a pyromusical spectacle. On Tuesday, April 28, San Prudencio's Day, activities will also extend to Armentia, including mass, aurresku (traditional Basque dance), herri kirolak (Basque rural sports), children's entertainment, and concerts.
Monday's schedule will kick off in the afternoon with a blood donation campaign next to the New Cathedral. Afterward, one of the most anticipated moments of San Prudencio's eve will arrive: the retreta and events in the Plaza Nueva and Plaza de la Provincia.
In the Plaza Nueva, the San Prudencio Retreta will be performed with the participation of the Municipal Folklore Academy. Later, the Plaza de la Provincia will host another performance by the Trumpeters and Drummers of the Provincial Council of Álava and the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council. Between the retreta performances, A Contra Blues, the Kantaberri Abesbatza Choir, Mala Brigo, and Artea Teatro Musical will perform. The night will continue with a pyromusical show by Pirotecnia Valecea, followed by a parade of gastronomic societies through the city center.
San Prudencio's Day, April 28, will begin in the center of Vitoria-Gasteiz with the traditional zortziko in the Plaza de la Provincia. At midday, it will be the turn of the “Biznietos de Celedón” Tamborrada, while in the afternoon there will be a children's tamborrada and a family show.
The program will continue in Armentia for much of the day. There will be entertainment with trikitixas and street parades, mass, aurresku, dances, herri kirolak, children's activities, and music.
