Perico Delgado, winner of the 1988 Tour de France and a two-time 'La Vuelta' champion, will join the 'Gran Fondo Vitoria' event on June 20th in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The renowned former professional cyclist will ride with the fans attending the race.
The event will feature two routes catering to different participant levels. The start is scheduled for 08:00 from Mendizorrotza. The 'Gran Fondo', spanning 207 kilometers, is established as the longest route in the Basque Country and one of the premier cyclotourism challenges in the north. An alternative, the 'Medio Fondo', offers a more accessible 100-kilometer option for those seeking to enjoy the experience without the full distance.
With just over two weeks until the event, preparations are in their final stages, and registrations are nearing capacity, with fewer than 40 spots remaining. The registration deadline is June 14th, or until all available slots are filled. Non-federated participants will need to pay a 7 euro accident insurance fee.
Beyond the sporting challenge, registered participants will benefit from services including an official jersey, aid stations along the route, mechanical support, showers, and changing facilities. The day will conclude with a final meal held at the Mendizorrotza stadium.
