Students from nine primary schools in Vitoria-Gasteiz have written and illustrated 17 stories to promote mental health and emotional well-being in children.

The third edition of the Osasun Hitzak-Palabras saludables initiative compiles 17 stories written and illustrated by 4th-grade primary school students from nine educational centers in Vitoria-Gasteiz. This book aims to foster mental health and emotional well-being in childhood through creativity and reading.
The presentation of the publication will take place at the Beñat Etxepare theater in the Iparralde civic center this Monday and Tuesday. Additionally, the book has been distributed to all students who participated in the workshops held this academic year.
A city councilor for Social Policies explained that the book's objective is “to promote healthy habits that favor the mental health of boys and girls, addressing key aspects such as emotional management, creativity, and a love for reading.” This process has allowed students to develop essential skills for their well-being.

"The objective has been twofold: to promote healthy habits for mental health and to encourage reading and creativity through the collective creation of stories and illustrations."

This initiative is part of the municipal program Repárate: acepta, transforma y valora tu salud mental. The program was launched in 2022 to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in childhood and adolescence, as well as to promote healthy lifestyles among minors and families.
In total, 410 schoolchildren participated as authors of the book. The publication will be available in family libraries, civic center meeting rooms, and in digital format on the municipal website. The book also includes games related to the stories to reinforce its educational and participatory role.
