The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has presented the educational program ‘Hirian hezi’ for the 2026-2027 academic year, offering a total of 233 activities, with 10 new ones. Education Councilor Sonia Díaz de Corcuera explained that this initiative has been running for over two decades, aiming to establish the city as a leading Educating City by enhancing social cohesion, addressing inequalities, and promoting equal opportunities among students.
Among the new offerings is ‘Txiki-agentes por la paz’ (Little Peace Agents), aimed at students from 1st to 6th grade of Primary Education. This program will take place in the network of Civic Center Play Centers, using play as a tool to understand and foster daily coexistence. Children will be appointed little peace agents and will undertake the challenge of starting the peace machine, learning about the importance of collaboration and collective responsibility.
Meanwhile, ‘PsicoWoman’ is designed for 4th-year ESO students. It is a talk-workshop delivered by a psychologist specializing in affective-sexual and emotional education. The activity provides a dynamic space to address key aspects of adolescence, such as emotional management, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships, with a particular focus on the impact of social media.
Another new initiative is ‘Proyecto C’, which combines artificial intelligence and history to understand the circular economy. This interactive activity and immersive exhibition will encourage reflection on how objects are manufactured, how quickly they are consumed, and how much waste is generated. It will be held at the Palacio Maturana-Verástegui, a fitting location given its historical use as a forge.
Díaz de Corcuera expressed gratitude for the joint collaboration of various municipal departments, coordinated by the Education Service, as well as the participation of different city entities and associations. She highlighted that this program is renewed and consolidated year after year thanks to this teamwork.

In the past 2025-2026 academic year, the ‘Hirian Hezi’ program offered 243 activities, 10 of which were new. A total of 7,107 groups and 163,933 individuals (mostly Primary and Secondary students) applied to participate. Notably, all educational centers in Vitoria-Gasteiz participated in at least one activity.
Among the most popular activities were the Musical Expression Program (26,833 students), the Historical-Artistic Itineraries Program (12,968), and the Emotions Workshops Program, which received 14,879 applications last year.
