The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has announced that the Christmas funfair rides will return to Plaza de los Fueros. This location is significantly more central than the current one in Plaza de la Constitución and will complement the Ferris wheel and carousel already present in Plaza de la Virgen Blanca.
The council decided to launch a new tender after the previous one was declared void due to a substantial increase in fees and conditions for setting up during San Prudencio, Easter, and Christmas over the next three years. The main changes now involve the amounts and the possibility of bonuses, as well as the return of the funfair rides to the historic Fueros location for Christmas.
Plaza de los Fueros is a historic location for funfair rides, having hosted them for many years during various festive periods. Therefore, they will return to a more central spot. This will happen after the Ardoaraba marquees are dismantled, meaning the rides are expected to be operational from the weekend of December 12th and 13th.
They have done things very badly.
Beyond this announcement, the funfair rides will be eligible for the same bonuses offered for the Ferris wheel, carousel, and ice rink, which the PP described as “comparative grievance.” Additionally, an alternative to traditional deposits will be offered through Civil Liability insurance policies, a practice already in place in other cases.
The Popular Party (PP), for its part, has thanked the Councilor for Public Space, Beatriz Artolazabal, for these measures. At the same time, it has blamed the mayor and the Councilor for Economic Promotion for “doing things very badly.”
