Vitoria-Gasteiz experienced temperatures above 27 degrees Celsius this Tuesday, with an electrical storm marking the end of the day, illuminating the sky with frequent lightning and thunder from eight in the evening.

A typical summer storm hit Vitoria-Gasteiz on Tuesday evening as night fell. This storm featured significant electrical activity, constantly illuminating the sky over Álava from 8:00 PM.
The sun set at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, but the streets of Vitoria-Gasteiz had darkened much earlier. The sunset was hastened by the rain and a black sky, which was only lit by continuous lightning. The streetlights did not turn on until 9:00 PM, as this is the programmed time for them to activate.
The lights in Vitoria-Gasteiz are not activated by light sensors but by an atomic clock, which sets the daily turn-on time. Consequently, those on the streets at that hour were getting wet while also straining their eyes to see properly.
The rain brought relief to a truly sultry day. Maximum temperatures on Tuesday reached 27.5º in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Almost all districts exceeded 25º. In Ayala, temperatures went even higher, surpassing 32.8º in Gardea.
The rain arrived in Álava from the southwest, sweeping almost simultaneously across Zambrana, Valdegovía, Ayala, and Rioja Alavesa. From 8:00 PM, it has been discharging, moving across the territory towards the northeast, albeit unevenly. Concurrently, another, slightly earlier shower began in Mendialdea, also moving southwest.
By 9:00 PM, the highest rainfall was recorded in Altube, with 10.4 l/m2, of which 7.2 fell in just 10 minutes. In Treviño, 8.4 l/m2 fell, with 5.7 in only 10 minutes. Nanclares also received 7.2 l/m2 so far, with 4.7 in just 10 minutes.
