The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council will increase the budget for the call for aid to foster employment in the agricultural production and distribution sector to 102,855.12 euros, in order to address the large number of applications received.

Initially, the planned amount was 75,000 euros, a sum that the Council has increased by 27,855.12 euros to reach all entities entitled to receive them. This line of aid is made possible by the 2026 budget agreement signed between the Municipal Government and EH Bildu.
María Nanclares, Councilor for Economic Promotion, Employment, Commerce, and Tourism, stated that "the innovations we have applied to this second call have had a very positive impact on the number of applications received. Non-profit associations can now benefit from this aid, obtaining up to 24,000 euros, which has been a significant draw. Our objective with this subsidy line is to promote quality employment in the agricultural sector."
For his part, Ekaitz Díaz de Garaio, councilor for EH Bildu, highlighted agroecology. "From the institutions, we must work hand in hand with the sector, promoting local produce and food self-sufficiency. These aids aim to incorporate new generations into the sector and boost agroecological projects."
The Department of Economic Promotion, Employment, Commerce, and Tourism subsidizes with up to 9,000 euros the hiring of individuals for a minimum period of 3 months in workplaces in Vitoria-Gasteiz that carry out agricultural activities. Contracts signed between December 16, 2025, and June 30, 2026, will be eligible for subsidies.
Priority is given to companies operating under an ecological model, and each company can benefit from up to a maximum of 3 contracts.
Likewise, the City Council subsidizes activities such as the purchase of machinery and land, facility improvements, advice, research projects, or digitalization with up to 15,000 euros for individuals and entities working under the ecological production model or, failing that, those working under the conventional model but who have initiated the process of conversion to ecological.
Eligible expenses must have been incurred between December 16, 2025, and September 15, 2026. These non-reimbursable grants, awarded through simple competition, are compatible with other aid.
