A new lighting system will be implemented in the Jundiz industrial area and the Zabalgana neighborhood in Vitoria-Gasteiz, significantly reducing energy consumption and leading to an annual saving of 102,000 euros on the electricity bill.

The lighting renovation project will impact both Jundiz and Zabalgana, funded by an 800,000 euro commitment credit allocated for 2027. A total of 1,107 luminaires will be replaced in Jundiz and an additional 587 in Zabalgana.
This modernization will prioritize LED technology throughout the entire system, with the exception of sector 21 in Jundiz. Existing columns will be retained, thus avoiding the need for additional civil works. The annual energy savings in Jundiz are estimated at approximately 843,000 kWh, which will result in a 76,000 euro reduction in electricity costs.
In Zabalgana, the savings will reach 287,000 kWh annually, decreasing consumption by about 26,000 euros more per year. Improvements in this neighborhood will cover streets such as Boulevard de Mariturri, Iruña-Veleia, Derechos Humanos, and Portal de Zuazo. Current luminaires will be upgraded with LEDs to leverage existing infrastructure.
The two combined actions will lead to the total renovation of 1,694 luminaires. The overall savings across both areas will exceed 1.1 million kWh annually, translating to approximately 102,000 euros saved each year in consumption.

"We are facing a very significant investment that allows us to continue advancing in the modernization of public lighting with criteria of efficiency and sustainability. In Jundiz, we are taking an important leap, renovating practically the entire industrial park. It is a highly anticipated action that improves lighting in a key environment for the city's economic activity."
