“"The Aranako Social Center was born from the neighborhood's drive and the desire to build a better community. Fifty years later, we want to remember all the people who made that project possible and who, generation after generation, have kept this space of meeting, coexistence, and participation alive."

Arana will celebrate in November the 50th anniversary of the birth of its social center, now a civic center, with a special program that invites reflection on its origins, celebrates half a century of neighborhood history, and highlights the contribution of its residents.
Under the slogan “Arana, from yesterday to today, 50 years,” the municipal Department of Open Government and Civic Centers has organized three activities: a photographic exhibition on the inauguration of the Aranako Social Center in 1976, family games to discover how the neighborhood has changed, and a screening of the documentary “50 years in the neighborhood,” along with a comedy monologue on the facility's evolution.
The Aranako Social Center opened its doors on January 16, 1976, driven by the Aranako neighborhood association and thanks to the initiative of the Social Work of the Caja Provincial de Ahorros de Álava. In a rapidly growing neighborhood, the facility became a place to meet, learn, and organize collectively.
In April 1994, the center joined the municipal network of civic centers, beginning a new phase. Currently, the Arana Civic Center offers municipal and neighborhood-led services and activities, remaining an integral part of the neighborhood's daily life.
The photographic exhibition “Arana, from yesterday to today, 50 years” will feature images from the inauguration of the Aranako Social Center in January 1976. The photographs, loaned by the Fundación Sancho el Sabio, will be on display at the entrance of the Arana Civic Center from November 9 to 19.
On Friday, November 13, the Civic Center's auditorium will host the main event: the screening of the documentary “50 years in the neighborhood” and a comedy monologue titled “The history of the Arana center in a monologue” by Jorge Loza. Invitations will be required for attendance.
