On Sunday, September 27th, the Environmental Studies Center (CEA) of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council will host the 22nd edition of the Anillo Verde Walk. This 30-kilometer non-competitive march invites citizens to enjoy and learn about the natural area surrounding the city.
The walk will commence at 7:30 AM from the Casa de la Dehesa in the Olárizu Botanical Garden, covering various sections of the Anillo Verde. According to the Councilor for the Environment, Borja Rodríguez, the event aims to promote outdoor physical activity and "bring citizens closer to the environmental, landscape, and social values of this green infrastructure, fostering its conservation."
The Anillo Verde is a fundamental component of Vitoria-Gasteiz's green structure. Its parks and natural spaces connect the Montes de Vitoria with the Zadorra River, bridging the urban and rural-natural environments. This area holds significant ecological, landscape, and identity value, vital for biodiversity and citizen well-being.
Registration will be open from September 14th to 24th. Sign-ups can be completed online via the municipal website or in person at the Civic Centers of Aldabe, Arriaga, El Pilar, Hegoalde, Ibaiondo, Iparralde, Judimendi, Lakua, Salburua, and Zabalgana, as well as at the sports facilities in Abetxuko, Aranalde, Ariznabarra, Landazuri, and San Andrés.
Participation is capped at 300 people and costs 3 euros per person. The minimum age requirement is 14 years. Through this initiative, the City Council and the CEA highlight the Anillo Verde as a key natural space and encourage active enjoyment and exploration.
