Abetxuko is the first neighborhood in Vitoria-Gasteiz to launch its festive calendar. The celebrations will commence on Wednesday, April 29, still fresh from the San Prudencio festivities, and will continue until Monday, May 4, right after the long weekend.
The festival committee has organized an extensive program, catering to all tastes and ages, with laughter, enjoyment, and community spirit as the main attractions. As is customary, the Descent of the Bird will be one of the main events on April 30. Wednesday will feature pre-festival activities, and both that day and May 4 will be dedicated to children at the fair.
Musically, Joselu Anayak will headline Saturday's open-air dance. On Friday, it will be the turn of the Natatxe Orchestra, and on Thursday, Rebelsoulsista and DJ Xaibor will perform. Furthermore, this year's festivities have a special birthday flavor, as Los Decididos celebrate their 60th anniversary, playing a prominent role on May 3 during Veteran's Day.
“"May the party not stop! May nothing and no one stop us."
The program includes various activities such as pintxo-potes, parades, mass, Basque dances, traditional competitions, children's games, and musical performances. Wednesday, April 29, will see the opening of the txosnas and children's day at the fair. On Thursday, April 30, highlights include the Descent of the Bird, parades, and live music. Friday, May 1, will feature a pilgrimage, Basque dances, and the Natatxe Orchestra's performance. Saturday, May 2, will commemorate Los Decididos' 60th anniversary with a tortilla contest and Joselu Anayak's open-air dance. Sunday, May 3, will host an artisan market, traditional Basque sports (herri kirolak), and graffiti workshops. Finally, on Monday, May 4, the festivities will conclude with a chocolate party.
