The Ugao City Council has presented its official festival program, led by Mayor Ekaitz Mentxaka and representatives of the Festival Committee. This year, the Bizi Muina Association and families from Ugao living with rare diseases will be the main protagonists.
Members of the Bizi Muina Association, Joseba Urrutikoetxea and Arkaitz Santamaria, will read the opening speech. This association works to raise awareness about the importance of bone marrow donation, and among its members are residents of Ugao who have received a bone marrow transplant. Santamaria has expressed his joy: “It has been unthinkable for us to be invited. We are overjoyed.”
Furthermore, families from Ugao who have relatives living with rare diseases will be responsible for performing the Bolari lap at the end of the festivities.
Among this year's innovations, the mayor highlighted the absence of noise at the end of the festivities, as a gesture of solidarity towards people with autism. Additionally, the Purple Point will be moved to the Gazteleku, where a professional team will provide attention in case of any potential aggressions.
According to Mentxaka, over the course of these nine days, there will be more than 70 activities combining culture, music, gastronomy, and sports, designed for all ages. The program has been put together thanks to the work of the Festival Committee, associations, and citizens.
The program includes street animation, plays, children's activities, bean stew, tributes, gastronomic competitions, and concerts, among others.
Additionally, the Ugao City Council will once again set up a mobile office for renewing DNIs and passports. The service will be available on September 30, October 29, November 26, and December 28 in the Plaza del Pueblo. Citizens will need to register in person or by phone.
Furthermore, the photographic project ‘Silver Panty’ by Ugao artist Argiñe Ceballos Gelozaga will be presented in the traveling exhibition 2026 Ertibil Bizkaia, from November 6 to 29 at the Ariz Tower in Basauri.
