A total of 28 specialist firefighters in Vitoria-Gasteiz have officially taken up their positions as career civil servants today, September 7th, after successfully completing their mandatory six-month practical period at the Aguirrelanda Fire Station. This event marks a significant step in consolidating the SPEIS service's workforce.
These 28 positions were part of the SPEIS-2022 OPE selection process, which initially called for 23 places and was later expanded by five additional positions.
The new firefighters began their practical training on January 26th, already possessing the minimum required qualifications and prior experience. They now fully integrate as career civil servants of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council. The group consists of 23 men and 5 women.
César Fernández de Landa, the Councillor for Security, stated that completing this process helps stabilize the operational staff, reduces temporary employment, and enhances the service's response capacity and coverage, both within Vitoria-Gasteiz and its surrounding areas.
Furthermore, the SPEIS continues its reinforcement efforts with the commencement of practical training for two deputy inspectors. These new command staff will progressively engage in leadership, coordination, and operational management functions, contributing to the renewal of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Fire Department's command structure.
The full integration of the firefighters and the start of the deputy inspectors' training represent a further step in consolidating and modernizing the SPEIS, thereby strengthening both its operational structure and its command and coordination capabilities.
