New water pipeline in the Sobrón area.

The Provincial Council of Álava and the Basque Water Agency (URA) have finished upgrading the water supply pipeline from the Sobrón borehole, installing three kilometers of new piping.

The construction followed the route of the A-2122 road and the Ebro river, connecting the borehole to the local population center. This project aims to resolve previous issues regarding water quality and quantity in the Añana region.
The project was technically complex due to the surrounding reservoir and environmental protection areas. The Sobrón borehole is a strategic resource with a flow rate of approximately 100 liters per second.
The investment exceeded 4.4 million euros, funded by the Next Generation EU plan. The new infrastructure provides the capacity to extend the water system to other areas of Lantarón in the future.
