The II Veteran Bertsolari Championship, organized by Supaztarrean Kultura Alkartea, will enliven Orozko town center this Saturday. Throughout the morning and afternoon, bertsolarism will take center stage, with eight bertsolaris invited to the competition.
According to the association, they have had three main criteria for selecting participants. This year, they have achieved parity, with four men and four women competing. Last year, however, only one woman confirmed her attendance and was unable to participate due to last-minute issues.
Furthermore, they try to attract bertsolaris who do not usually participate in official competitions, although this is difficult in Álava. Finally, they aim to bring participants from all over Euskal Herria, but this year it has not been possible to gather creators from Iparralde.
Saturday's event will be divided into two elimination rounds. The first will take place at the Batzoki at 11:00 AM, featuring performances by Iratxe Ibarra, Juanjo Respaldiza, Kristina Mardaras, and Nahikari Gabilondo. The second elimination round will begin at 12:30 PM at the Kalakan bar, with Oihane Perea, Manolo Arozena, Serapio Lopez, and Bittor Elizagoien participating.
The final will be held at Iza Taberna after lunch. Prior to this, there will be a lunch, and to reserve a spot at the table, 40 euros must be paid. The last day to register is Friday, and payment can be made via Bizum to the phone number 674 084 567 or by purchasing the ticket at Induman. Throughout the morning, trikitilaris will liven up the town, and Asier Ibaibarriaga, Saioa Mitxelena, and Joseba Santxo will serve as judges.
