The municipalities of Añana, Elburgo, and Peñacerrada will feature new ATMs before summer as part of a Basque Government initiative.

The municipalities of Añana, Elburgo, and Peñacerrada will have new ATMs installed before summer, as part of the Basque Government's Berosi program. This initiative aims to guarantee access to basic financial services in rural municipalities that lack a bank branch or cash dispenser.
The announcement was made last month during the inauguration of the program's first rural ATM in the Biscayan town of Artzentales. There, the Basque Government and Kutxabank presented the progressive rollout of this network across the Basque Country. The measure seeks to combat financial exclusion in small municipalities and facilitate access to cash and basic banking operations, especially for the elderly or those with limited mobility.

"Living in a village cannot mean having fewer rights, fewer services, or more daily difficulties. When we talk about rural development, we are also talking about services, dignity, and opportunities."

Through this action, the Basque Government intends to improve the quality of life in rural areas, preventing their population from having to travel to other towns to carry out basic financial transactions.
