Pelota players from Zumaia will participate this year in the Gipuzkoa Inter-Town Pelota Championship, competing in the tool and rubber paleta modalities, in the tournament organized by the Gipuzkoa Basque Pelota Federation.

The Gipuzkoa Basque Pelota Federation (GEPF) presented the Gipuzkoa Inter-Town Pelota Championship yesterday, Tuesday, in Donostia. The event was attended by representatives from various associations that will participate in the competition, which is considered one of the most special among the pelota tournaments organized by regional pelota clubs throughout the year.
In this year's edition, 24 towns have registered for the hand pelota championship. Additionally, ten towns will compete in both leather paleta and short paleta modalities, and eighteen will participate in the rubber paleta championship. In the Urola Kosta region, six towns will take part: Aia, Azkoitia, Azpeitia, Zarautz, Zestoa, and Zumaia.
Pelota players from Zumaia will compete in both the tool championship and the rubber paleta modality. In the tool modality, which combines leather paleta and short paleta, Zumaia will begin its participation in the round of sixteen, during the second weekend of May. Their first opponent will be Oiartzun, playing the first leg at home and the return leg away.
