The Zarautz City Council will launch several preventive resources during the San Pelayo festivals. The main objective of these actions is to raise public awareness and reduce the risks associated with consumption in leisure spaces. These initiatives are supported by the Directorate of Public Health and Addictions of the Basque Government.
Among the planned measures, the association AiLaket will offer a risk reduction 'testing' service this Thursday, from midnight to three in the morning, at the Malecón in Zarautz. This action aims to "reduce the risks of drug consumption" by raising awareness about the effects of different types of substances, disseminating prevention measures to avoid risky consumption, and promoting reflection on the causes, objectives, pleasures, and risk management in consumption.
Furthermore, this Friday, between eleven at night and two in the morning, an itinerant service focused on the prevention and risk reduction of alcohol consumption will be deployed. This initiative, developed by the health promotion association Garaia, has the primary goal of de-normalizing excessive alcohol consumption. To achieve this, the Zarauztarra community will be informed and sensitized, healthy behaviors will be encouraged, and preventive advice on consumption will be offered directly to adolescents and young people.
