Zarautz City Council has launched the 45th edition of the Lizardi literary contest, focusing this year on children's literature, with a submission deadline of July 10.

The Zarautz City Council has announced the call for the 45th edition of the Lizardi literary competition, aimed at stimulating children's and youth literature. This contest alternates between the two disciplines each year, with this edition dedicated to children's literature, targeting young readers aged 7 to 12 years.
Submitted works must contain between 22,000 and 34,000 characters. They must be written in Euskara, be original, and not have been previously published or awarded in other competitions. Each participant is allowed to submit more than one entry.
The deadline for submitting works is July 10. Entries can be sent either by postal mail or email, always adhering to the requirements outlined in the contest rules, which are available on the City Council's website. The winner will receive a prize of 5,500 euros, and the Zarautz City Council will also provide 1,000 euros in financial aid to the illustrator involved.
The previous edition was declared void, as the jury determined that the submitted works lacked the necessary quality to maintain the standard of previous years. Consequently, the traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year.
