The municipal council has given its approval to an agreement that will allow the Basque Academy of Police and Emergency Services to manage the selection process for entry into the police forces of the Basque Autonomous Community. Previously, a process led by Zumaia was proposed but did not proceed due to emerging concerns.
It has been reported that the process initiated by Zumaia, involving the municipalities of Getaria and Azpeitia, has not yet been fully completed, apparently due to certain issues. Consequently, the council has decided to approve the current agreement, while acknowledging the complexities arising from inter-municipal dynamics and challenges related to Basque language proficiency.
“"We will give our approval to this agreement, but without putting on the table the movement among the merits of the towns, and the difficulty this entails in understanding the idiosyncrasy of each town and the problems with knowledge of Basque."
During this meeting, the minutes from the previous session were approved, information regarding the budget was provided, and questions and requests were addressed.
