Zarautz's Desertu Txikia will be the venue for the 21st edition of the Txaparrotan beach handball tournament over the first two weekends of July. This year, 121 youth teams will compete on the first weekend, followed by 128 adult teams on the subsequent weekend, July 11th and 12th.
The competition kicks off on July 3rd and 4th, with matches starting at 9:30 AM on Saturday, spread across six courts: Tablauan, Argiñanon, Santa Barbara, Kanpinean, Allapuntan, and Mollarrin. Each match will consist of two 10-minute halves with a 5-minute break. The winner of each half earns a point, and ties will be decided by 'golden goal' or 'shoot out'.
On Sunday midday, group stage matches will be played, followed by the knockout rounds. The quarterfinals are scheduled for 3:30 PM, 4:00 PM, and 4:30 PM. The semifinals will take place at 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM, with the finals at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
Categorized by age group, 35 teams will compete in the Benjamin category (11 in the girls' division, 24 in the boys', with ten mixed teams). In the Alevín category, 44 teams have registered (17 girls, 27 boys, seven mixed). The Infantil category will see 38 teams competing (23 girls, 15 boys, one mixed). Additionally, four adapted teams will compete in categories A and B, with two teams from Zarautz and two from Errenteria.
The adult tournament will take place on July 11th and 12th. Group stage matches begin on Saturday at 9:00 AM and continue until Sunday midday. Following this, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the final knockout stages will be played, with the finals at 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM.
In the women's category, 40 teams have entered, an increase from last year. Alongside teams from Zarautz, participants will include those from Orio, Aia, Eibar, Oñati, Daganzo, and Elorrio. There are 10 mixed teams. In the men's category, a total of 70 teams will compete, slightly more than in the women's division.
