The Orio Town Council will pay tribute to the artistic career of Benito Lertxundi at the sixth edition of Whale Day, with a special concert on May 17 featuring the Et Incarnatus orchestra and children's choirs.

The Orio Town Council recently unveiled the program for the sixth edition of Whale Day, highlighting a tribute concert dedicated to the singer-songwriter Benito Lertxundi. The event will take place on May 17, and tickets are already available for purchase.
Lertxundi ceased performing concerts in 2024, and within the framework of Whale Day, his prolific artistic career will be recognized. As a tribute, the Et Incarnatus symphony orchestra and four children's choirs from Euskal Herria will take the stage to perform the artist's most well-known songs. The orchestra, directed by Migel Zeberio, will feature 50 musicians, and the children's choirs will comprise 100 members, bringing the total number of participants to 150.
The concert was initially scheduled for Friday, May 15, but due to a strike call by sound technicians, the Orio Town Council and the organizers have decided to postpone the performance to Sunday, May 17, starting at 8:00 PM.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Orio tourist office, and an online purchase option will also be available. A total of 1,000 tickets are expected to go on sale: 700 at the tourist office and 300 online. Each person may purchase a maximum of four tickets, with each ticket priced at 20 euros.
